Workshop with CirkVost
Workshop on CirkVost's 15 metre high structure - for circus performers who are not afraid of heights and empty spaces!
Humanity has always had a complex fascination with the void, a mixture of mystery, attraction and fear across all ages and cultures. Flying trapeze uses this void to thrill its audience. At CirkVOST, we use it as a tool for poetry, storytelling, humour and of course acrobatic feats. Understanding the void means accepting our frailties and weaknesses, but it's also about learning to expand our limits and triumph over our fears!
This 3-hour workshop offers an immersive experience at the intersection of physical sensation and artistic reflection.
CirkVost is behind the festival's festive performance Pigments Saturday evening. Watch the trailer from the show here.
Programme
- Guided tour of CirkVOST's monumental aerial structure, followed by a sensory workshop exploring the physical and emotional perception of height and emptiness.
- Jump into the void: a daring leap from the hanging chair into the safety net - an exercise in trust, risk and poetic suspension.
- Collective exchange on the economic and artistic mechanisms behind large aerial creations, with insights into CirkVOST's creative process.
The trainers

Artistic Director Benoit Belleville
Benoit is an acrobatic gymnast, flyer, juggler, self-taught musician & instructor
A background as a drummer in a rock band, drama lessons and especially ten years of high-level gymnastics enabled him to approach circus arts with confidence. He was part of Danish Acid Cirq, which created Inferno in 1996 before founding Les Frères Kazamaroffs and embarking on an international tour with the show Cirque Clandestin.
In 2001 he joined Les Arts Sauts for their shows Kayassin and then Ola Kala. In 2007 he co-founded CirkVOST and has since participated in the productions Epicycle, BoO, A-Tripik, Hurt Me Tender and Pigmentsthe latter of which he co-directed with Germain Guillemot.
He also collaborates with other companies such as Louxor, Cirque Rouage and Cie Gratte ciel. In 2024, while still performing in Hurt Me Tender, Pigments and A-Tripik, he will also launch CirkVost's sixth major collective creation: TRAXXX.

Acrobat & Aerialist Théo Dubray
Moving to a land of slopes, curves and vibrant colours, Théo discovered snow and cold with a sense of wonder that sparked his interest and passion. Both his body and mind craved movement. Physical activities followed in quick succession, like the changing of the seasons. Originally working in the mountains, Théo developed a passion for flying trapeze, which he pursued at the Siamangs school in Margés. In 2016, he met CirkVOST and joined their journey together! Since then, Théo has been flying and falling in style, playing an active role in the ensemble's performances.
About the company
Cirk VOST is a French circus company specialising in aerial acrobatics, founded in late 2007 when five artists from Arts Sauts (Benoit Belleville, Arnaud Cabochette, Melissa Colello, Sara Sandqvist and Andy Mitchell) decided to pursue their aerial adventure together. Today, 20 people take part in the adventure, several nationalities are gathered in this original version around a common need: live performance.
CirkVOST, the artist collective behind this circus in the air, offers original and impressive scenographies, the company's trademark, setting the stage for artistic expression in an eternal struggle not to let go...
