Don Quixote - Teatro dei Venti
19 Italian performers transform Algade in Vordingborg into a living theatre - a grand opening performance for all, kicking off the festival with energy and spectacle!
Don Quixote is a sensuous, poetic and dreamlike journey through Miguel de Cervantes' timeless masterpiece in the urban space. With a narrator guiding us through the knight's utopian adventures, we follow Don Quixote and his faithful Sancho Panza as they transform metaphors for life's challenges into magical moments with stilts, live music and theatrical machines.
Don Quixote is a performance for urban spaces, freely based on Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's Spanish masterpiece. The narrator of the story leads the audience through the utopian journey with Don Quixote and his faithful, but initially sceptical, companion Sancho. Along the way, the dramatic events become living metaphors for the challenges the two heroes face - showing how relevant the universe of the work still is today.
Paolo Nani, curator at WAVES, saysDon Quixote by Teatro dei Venti is a show that can open Waves in a big way!
We all know the character Don Quixote, but Teatro Dei Venti presents this story in a way that stays in the memory for days. A performance that turns the city centre upside down. Imaginative, powerful and moving.
