Moving and captivating, the two modern clowns take the stage. Inventively and with laughter, they mesmerise us with their physical presence. Inspired by Chaplin, Keaton and other stars of silent cinema, Baccalà delivers a timeless performance filled with breathtaking physicality, acrobatics and refined expression.
The show has played over 950 times in more than 50 countries and delivers an unforgettable pas de deux of physical genius and human warmth.
The performance is built around a play with time and weight: the scenes alternate between investigative silence and explosive physical virtuosity, where a glance or a small gesture can trigger cascades of laughter. The clean approach with an almost complete absence of text makes PSS PSS universally understandable and deeply captivating.
Compagnia Baccalà was founded in 2004 when two circus artists Camilla Pessi and Simone Fassari met during a tour in Cape Town. Both had a background from Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Switzerland and several years of experience in international circus and cabaret contexts - Camilla with Circus Monti (2002-2004) and Simone on tour with various ensembles - before their paths crossed and the artistic partnership took shape.
In 2008, Valerio Fassari joined the company as artistic collaborator and technical manager. His musical and dramaturgical eye helped expand the work's depth and clown aesthetic, and in 2010 director Louis Spagna brought all the elements together in the final creation of PSS PSS - a show that has since established itself as a key work of contemporary physical theatre and received numerous awards.
