Heaven borne
HIMMELBÅREN is an outdoor performance. A living ritual, a transformation from human to bird under the open sky.
A woman loses her sister. She sees her in a dream, with a huge, scaly primeval bird. She wants to take her sister back. The audience is taken on a journey through a mythical landscape. During the performance, the audience is invited into installations, mythical storytelling, transformative sound works and live choir performance.
Himmelbåren is the culmination of two years of research and collecting about birds. Here we meet birds: as fascinating fauna and fragile species, but also as supremely awe-inspiring life: Despite their small size, birds possess an amazing resilience and ability to adapt to changes in nature. They can change habitats, move according to food and temperature, some birds can even be airborne for months and hover, look down on a burning planet, and leave us to the world we have created.
The birds express the change, adaptation and resilience that we humans ourselves need more and more. In the sky-borne, the strangely heavy earth-bound human is lifted up: up to the floating being to gaze reverently into its depths.
Himmelbåren is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, Øernes Kunstfond, Faxe Municipality, Stevns Municipality, Augustinusfonden, Koda Kultur, Nordeafonden, Danske Dramatikere, Aage & Johanne Louis-Hansen Fonden, William Demant Fonden, Vordingborg Municipality & Metropolis
The performance at Møn Friskole is presented in collaboration between Hjelmhuset and Pavillon K.
